The Mid-Ohio Valley Sportsmen’s Fellowship hosted its annual Fishing Derby this past weekend at the Parkersburg Elite Center, bringing together families for a morning of fun, fishing, and faith. The event, partnered between, Bethel Baptist Church, Tri-City Baptist, and Grace Gospel Church, is an event that works towards one clear goal—to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the youth and families of our community.
It was a perfect fall morning for it. The fish were biting, with more than 25 catfish caught, and the banks were full of families. Between casts, families enjoyed warm hot chocolate, generous giveaways, and plenty of excitement.
Before the grand prizes were drawn, everyone gathered together to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. It was the moment that defined the day, reminding everyone why this event exists in the first place.
In total, 101 children registered and roughly 175 people attended. Tagged fish meant great prizes, ranging from adventure packs (complete with flashlights, compasses, ponchos, and first-aid kits) to brand-new fishing poles and tackle boxes.
This was a day that was about more than fishing—it was about faith. The unity, the laughter, and the message of Christ turned an ordinary Saturday into something that mattered for eternity. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a great event!
